Talent Acquisition

One of my friends works for the talent acquisition group of his company. His is a very important job which involves screening among hundreds of resumes every day to find the best fit for the required role. And recently not only him, but I have seen several of my friends taking the route of talent acquisition groups to fulfil the vacancies in their companies. So I decided to understand what exactly these groups work for.

Talent acquisition in a broad terms points to identifying individuals whose skills can be utilised strategically for certain requirements of an organisation. But it is very different from the orthodox hiring methods where the only motive is for finding an individual who has an experience in certain areas and is hired keeping in mind the educational and work background of the individual. On the other hand talent acquisition is all about finding an individual with the knack and talent of the job he is applying for irrespective of his/her educational qualification and work experience. Talent acquisition groups aim towards finding the best match for the job in terms that their skills can be used in diverse field rather than being concentrated on only one job that they have applied for.

The work of talent acquisition groups focuses on identifying not only the current availability but also on the future vacancies that might come up owing to the growth of the organisation. The groups need to conduct in depth study of where the company is leading towards and how in terms of employment and skills, various employees need to be admitted so that it adds to the productivity of the organisation.  These groups scan admits on the basis of how much an employee can add value to the company. Their focus is on hiring people who can bring in new and innovative ideas rather than employing somebody who can only get the job at hand done and is unwilling to try unconventional methods.

Talent acquisition groups have become the talk of the town in recent times and most of the organisations have a dedicated team of their own for it. Some companies hire talent acquisition groups on contract basis for the vacancies they have and these groups get the best of the talents for the companies. It is certainly a new and unconventional method of hiring and is beneficial to both the organisation and the employee since they make the best match between the employee and the employer in the hiring field.
